Your Sun Sign and What Inspires You

What is Sun in Astrology? Sun is our vitality; it is what gives us life and energy. Everything in our Solar System revolves around the Sun; like in our birth chart, everything revolves around the Sun. So, lots of Sun. The Sun has indeed had a lot of time in the Sun lately…Wait, let me rephrase that. Astrology has revolved around the Sun over the last hundred or so years. Wait, wait, let me try it again. The Sun stole the spotlight and has become the star of modern astrology since the last century. If you ask someone what astrological sign they are, they will immediately respond with I am Leo, or I am a Virgo, meaning that is where the Sun was placed when they were born. But if you ask them what sign their Mars is, most people would have no idea what you are talking about.

Anyway, you get the picture. Don't get me wrong. The Sun is essential in any astrological chart because, as we have mentioned, all other planets revolve, nay, rely on the Sun on its gravitational pull. If not for the Sun, our Solar System would explode into tiny little particles that would shoot out into the wider cosmos, where we would collide again, forming a new Solar System and be reborn into alien bodies, maybe ones that resemble James Cameron's Avatars. Do you think you'd pick to be born as a forest Avatar or a sea Avatar? I think I'd pick a forest Avatar because they fly these cool dragon-looking things. I digress.

So if you didn't have a Sun Sign, the conversation about your Mars would not be happening. The Sun is important. It takes centre stage, but it doesn't tell the whole story. Like any main lead, this artist needs background actors, a stage setup team, screenwriters, directors and, of course, an audience. Next time someone asks you what your star sign is, you can safely respond, Leo or Virgo, knowing well that this is just where the Sun has landed at the time of your birth, but there is so much more to uncover about your natal chart beyond the solar rays. The Sun does paint the picture. If the Sun was a painter, all other planets would be the brushes, the paints would be the zodiac signs, and the canvas would be the houses. Just like we are all creators of our lives, the Sun is the creator of our chart.

People often ask me, "how do you get more creative," or they blatantly state that they are not creative. The last statement is not a statement but rather a philosophical question. What do you mean when you say "creative"? Creative like Da Vinci or creative like when your mum cooks her mother's recipe but adds chilli to it? We are all creative in one way or another. After all, we all create our lives. It is not to say that we are in full control of the cosmos, but we do make certain important choices as we go throughout the day. A simple decision as what you had for lunch that day could cost you your health long term or give you vitality. We all asked ourselves, should I text him/her/them, or should I let the possibility of that relationship burn in the flames of pure potential? Then there are bigger questions, like marriage, children, or moving countries. We are all creative because we all create opportunities, possibilities, and circumstances. I remember clearly a day when my friend was holding her newborn daughter whilst trying to express to me that she simply wasn't a creative person. I thought to myself, didn't you just "create" a human being? Maybe I said it out loud. Who is to say now?

That is why it is truly a challenge to pinpoint creativity in astrology. Creativity is an inherent part of life and, thus, a driving vehicle of astrology. However, when we observe what colours and paint brushes the painter uses, we might get an idea of what he likes to paint.

Your Sun Sign dictates how you get creative:

ARIES: Have you ever heard that advice, "step into your fear"? Doing things that scare you are especially good for you, and you might meet a muse or two on those treacherous journeys.

TAURUS: Music, nature, a lover's touch, and beautiful scents trigger the notes of inspiration in your heart and soul. All the above are a recipe for inner peace, and that is where you draw your muse from.

GEMINI: New experiences, learning, and exploring all light up a fire in a Gemini. As long as you can wiggle your way out of a rut, you should be side by side with a muse at all times.

CANCER: You might want to light a candle, sit in a quiet room and explore your inner psyche. Dive into the past; those memories hold the key to your creative talents.

LEO: Is there anything you do that isn't inspired? You look at your own approach to things. Leos need to move through life with a creative outlook and the muse; well, she is always nearby in the centre of your heart.

VIRGO: There isn't much that doesn't inspire a Virgo: people, places, the way that clouds are shaped, and the trees are formed. Virgos observe. Virgos notice what could be a little better, which is a blessing and a curse. The same qualities that make Virgos creative can also block them, so watch out for that.

LIBRA: Your muses are other artists, musicians, painters, designers, actors, and other inspired people. You get your creativity by absorbing other people's art.

SCORPIO: Your inspiration is an intense investigation, whether it's into a non - mainstream theory about world events or your own psyche. If you journal your discoveries, draw them out or talk them through with other people, be sure that the muse is nearby.

SAGITTARIUS: Adventure, even to a new neighbourhood in your town, is where you will find your muse. Sometimes to adventure, you do not even leave your home if you find the right book or indulge in self-exploration.

CAPRICORN: Setting goals and building your dreams is inspiring to you. Sometimes that goal can be to complete a project, but sometimes you need to think bigger to really feel the presence of your muse. Write down your plans and put them on your wall - that way, you feel inspired as you walk past them every time.

AQUARIUS: You are inspired by the extraordinary experience, unusual people, and helping others. You have a heart of gold and the mind of a rebel. Get out of your comfort zone as much as possible to meet the muse.

PISCES: You are inspired by tranquillity, calmness, and quieting your mind. If you are looking for a muse, all you need to do is close your eyes and focus on your breath for a couple of minutes. She will be sure to meet you there.
