Pisces Full Moon
What comes to mind for you when we are talking about being on the extreme side of things? Is it the word extremists? Addicts? Cult leaders? Terrorists? Or do you think of someone who is being dramatic? "Look, Suzanne is being extreme again." Or "Dave is always on the extreme side of things." Does that mean an extreme thinker? Perhaps, a person possessed by an ideology? But what is the definition of extreme? Well, the first definition in a google dictionary is "reaching a high or the highest degree." Merriam - Webster proposes the following definitions:
Existing in a very high degree
Going to great or exaggerated lengths
Exceeding the ordinary, usual, or expected
And the word extreme defines the zodiac sign Pisces. It is not to say that everything extreme is Pisces, but it is to say that most things Pisces are extreme. The nature of Pisces is to exist on the very ends of the spectrum of things; holy vs. evil, depressed vs. ecstatic, the master created vs. a slob. Which end of the spectrum is a Pisces on any given day might depend on the planetary alignments, transits, house positions, etc. A person with intense Pisces energy in the chart that is unaware of this tendency in themselves may seem inconsistent. An exaggerated example of this Piscean quality would be someone who is bipolar. Another way of saying it - is it’s an all-or-nothing attitude.
Bear in mind that we are talking about a sign, not a person who is “Pisces". What I am trying to portray here is the ambience of Pisces. It is a lot harder to describe the meaning of a zodiac because you are stripping away its humanity, and then all we are left with is the atmosphere. All you have left to understand is the archetype. When a planet enters a sign, that's when we can identify the qualities of both the sign and the planet with a human element. For instance, Mercury is the mind; it’s how we communicate, it's how we would like to communicate, whether it’s through words, sign language, art, music, etc.
When Mercury enters Pisces, communication can become exaggerated. That's why it's important to note the distinction between personal and mundane (worldly events) astrology. If Mercury were in Pisces at the moment, then all of our communication would have the potential to become extreme. Our thoughts could become extreme too. Even if you had Mercury in Virgo, your thoughts would become extreme but in a Virgo way.
I am oversimplifying to prove a point. When the Moon enters Pisces, she too has to be possessed by her ambience. This Full Moon in Pisces can throw us all into excess of emotion, behaviour, and old patterns of thinking. It's all-or-nothing energy. With it being the Full Moon where our ego emotions are fully illuminated, we might find it hard to hide our pain, doubt, anger, or whatever demons are haunting us.
The instinct might be to numb ourselves with everything. But that can backfire too. Whatever we numb ourselves with can become the spotlight of our pain. Emotional drainage can lead to complete obliteration of the consciousness with whatever medication suits you: whether it is alcohol, food, working out, working, drugs, etc. Who knows, maybe some occasions do call for a complete obliteration, but in most cases, this kind of set of mind is dangerous.
It is not to say that we are all feeling tremendous emotional pain like a prickly blanket over the globe. But it is to say that we should all be reminded to check our physical and mental health. And to check on how we react to life and its unexpected circumstances. Those of us who do feel the world of pain stabbing through your hearts, I wish you a painless and quick recovery from all your heartaches and mental anguish.
One more thing, if you are looking for Piscean music to jam under this Full Moon, I have two choices for you. Both artists embody Pisces through their impressive stellium (three or more plants together) in their charts. One is Nirvana, led by the Pisces' artistic genius. If you are looking for a more mellow evening, I recommend Jhene Aiko.
